01.Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.

02.Never use a long word where a short one will do.

03.If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
Using irrelevant word to your article may hamper its importance to its readers. On the other hand, It looks diluted from its meaning too.

04.Never use the passive where you can use the active.

This rule can be related to the rule number three. Because passive is always longer than active. Where you can say a sentence in an active verb, You don't need to use a passive verb to say it. Because the Passive form of verb enlarges the sentence. On the other hand, Its make more complex by its meaning than active.

05.Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
You are writing to make your message to understand easily to its reader. You aren't writing to present yourself as more intelligent, right?
